Steps for Undergrad Education in UK - IV

Step Eight, Nine, Ten

Step eight to step ten are not a part of this procedure and need to be developed well in advance.

Step 8) Work Experience - This is basically any internship course you have successfully completed in high school. Work experience whether paid or un-paid is a great addition to your personal statement. The internship at some institute showcases various abilities such as determination, passion, organized, time management skills etc you have as a person which is what exactly admission officers are looking for.

Step 9) Grade 10 Results & predicted Grades - There is nothing much to say about this part. Just that you need to work you ass off to get as high as possible grades in grade 10. Don't fret too much about your grade 11 marks. It is a huge transitory year and college officers understand that. Mostly, there is no need to even mention grade 11 marks in UCAS, if your grade 10 marks are high enough. ( If you have anything above 85% in grade 11 , feel free to flaunt it in the UCAS, if you wish )

Predicted grades, as the name suggests is the marks that your teachers predict you are capable off achieving in your grade 12 boards. This is a necessary document you need to send in with all your other transcripts.

Step 10) Co - Curricular Activities - Quizzes, competitions, debates, tournaments, volunteer work, blogging etc are merely some of the activities out of the many available to you. They don't necessarily need to be organised by your school. They can be activities at your music institute, karate center, local community center etc. These activities show various skills and qualities whether innate or acquired  that you will bring to their university if chosen. These are a great addition to your personal statement and will definitely give you an edge over other applicants.

Step Eleven
Reference. You need to pick one of your teachers or school counselor as your reference preferably one of your grade 12 teachers with whom you have good relations of course. The reference is a part of your UCAS application. You need to enter your teachers details onto the form ( confirm these details with your teacher). Once you have done that, click on section complete and a direct email from UCAS will be sent to your teacher to send in a letter about you.

1) Preferably choose your teacher according to the subject you are applying for. ( Your first instinct might be to choose your English teacher but, if you are applying, say for an economics course, your English teacher might not be able to comment on your academic capability in that sense. You could always get your other teacher's letter edited by your English teacher later)

2) Give your referee teacher time to type in her essay as to why you she/he thinks you are an ideal candidate for the university.

3) Give your teacher all the information, as to what all you have done or achieved and this can be a good place for you to speak about your achievements, of which you couldn't mention in your personal statement due to lack of space

Give a print out of the following link's contents to your teacher -  it will give your teacher the idea what to type in.

Step Twelve

And Voila, you're done. If you have completed all of the above steps and finished your UCAS application. All that is left is to recheck your UCAS application summary again and again, Be sure of your personal statement. And that's it, Pay your application fee, click on submit and now wait and pray.

Don't forget to send all your scanned Original Transcripts to each university. ( i.e your grade 10 report card, predicted grades, IELTS report, other certificates etc )

Best of luck with your applications !
